Our rehearsal schedule for the coming two weeks will be as follows because of the Thanksgiving Break: Monday Nov. 20 3:45- 5 PM- Full Cast Monday Nov 27 3:45 until - 5 PM- Full Cast Wednesday Nov. 29 . 3:45- 5:30 PM- Dress Rehearsal Performance- Thursday Nov. 30th . Actors arrive at 5 pm Audience: The house will open at 6:30. The performance will begin promptly at 7 pm. I have some very exciting news about the Immersion Theatre Project. We have been given a grant from the Peaceable Cities Foundation. One of our parents, Emily Anderson, wrote the grant. Our plan is to take our original immersion play to community centers in Evanston.
We will have our performance Nov. 30th. Students should arrive by 5 pm. Our audience should come at 7pm. The performance is about one hour but with participation from the audience it could be slightly longer. We will need to have one Saturday rehearsal from 10-12 on Nov. 18th. We need this rehearsal because we have not been able to use all the areas in the school we plan to use for our immersion play. It is very important that everyone who plans to perform comes. I know it is short notice but I hope you will understand this is the one time we will have to work out the logistics and be willing to shift your schedules. After our performance we will enjoy a break and then we will have pick up rehearsals to prepare for our public performances. We think these will be in January or February although they are not scheduled yet. In the past we have done the community performances on Saturdays. I realize that not every student will be able to continue with the program but we are hoping to have enough to have critical mass so that we can take our message into the broader Evanston community. Please let me know if you are interested in continuing. This week
Monday- We will discuss our resistance movement scenario. We will pick a new topic to explore for a second scene. Wednesday_ We will discuss our voting scene and pick a new scenario to explore. Friday_ We will make some decisions about how we will frame our story and explore the use of space in the performance. Make sure you attend regularly because you will miss selecting your part if you miss too many times.
This week : Monday- We will work on our WWII scene . We will explore resistance fighters. Wednesday - There will be no rehearsal due to the half day. Friday- We will look at the real side of our science fiction scenario.
Our theme is Taking a Stand. This week we will explore the idea of protests. We will create our own original protest and then we will reconstruct an actual historical protest. On Friday, we will begin constructing our opening scene for the show.
Students who were not able to come to the Immersion Theatre Informational Meetings but are still interested can drop by the auditorium to pick up information from Mrs. Westphal. The immersion theatre group will have their first meeting this Friday, Sept. 15. Students will have the opportunity to experience what Immersion theatre is like and explore the theme. This meeting is manditory . Please bring your permission slips and contract.
