Students will be beginning a new rotation of fine arts. We will be introduced to the expectations, grading and activities in 8th grade drama. We will be introduced to the life and times of Shakespeare and explore the characters in the subplots of Midsummer Night's Dream.

This week we are starting a process drama about life in Warsaw, Poland between 1939-1947. Because of limited time we will focus on the Warsaw Ghetto. The students will create fictional families and take these families through a series of events.
This week we will be finishing Macbeth. We will look at the characteristics of Shakespeare's tragedies. We will create a three dimensional model of a set. We will begin a process drama about Warsaw Poland between 1939-1947.
This week the 8th grade will be finishing work on Macbeth. We will continue our exploration of movement and the voice. We will do a choral reading from Macbeth. We will work on the blocking and choreography for the final scene. We will explore the world of the designer and look at how set designers create scale models.
This week in 8th grade we will finish work on a script the students have created. They will do a staged reading of their script. We will discuss the idea of different styles of theatre and create a scene using physical theatre techniques. We will work on vocal techniques and explore the role of choral speaking in classical theatre. We will begin examining the climax of Macbeth.
