We will be welcome 6th grade to a new fine arts rotation, We will learn about the expectations, grading and activities in 6th grade drama. We will begin to explore the characters and setting of the novel "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe."

This is our last week of drama together. We are finishing up The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Some classes are finishing the last scene where the children leave Narnia and others are creating an original scene which explains the "How" of some of the events and characters in the book. We will explore some other stories in our last few days together.
The 6th graders will be working on creating visual storytelling in The Great Battle Scene. We are experimenting with music to see how it changes the feel of the scene. We are work on word choice and language register in the next scene. We are exploring formal and informal language and how we can express character through word choice. 9th period will be working on a process drama about the children's evacuation of London during WW II.
This week some classes will be finishing up working in the round. The students are exploring how to block a scene on an arena stage. We will be working on picturing a scene like a director and creating spectacle. We will explore the idea of stage choreography in a battle scene.
This week the 6th grade will continue working on building mood and atmosphere in a scene. We are going to explore the role of the costume and makeup designer. The students will have the opportunity to create a "costume" for a scene and explore some of the challenges of making the costume work to convey character. 9th period drama is a little ahead and will also be working on the idea of spectacle.
