This week in 7th grade drama, we explored the setting of our story To Kill a Mockingbird. We look a tour of Macomb and discussed the historical context. We worked on tableaus of the characters and created interpretive action for the characters in the first scene. We learned about what schooling would have been like in the 1930"s and created the school scene with Scout.

This week in 7th grade drama we will complete To Kill a Mockingbird. The students will finish the climax scene when Jem and Scout are attacked. They will explore the characteristics of a good resolution. 6th period will have time to create a sequel scene. We will compare and contrast our work with the film version of the novel. This is our last week of drama. Next week the students will go to media arts.
7th grade will be working on creating a radio play for the trial of Tom Robinson from To Kill a Mockingbird. They will be investigating vocal technique. They will explore the comedy in the Halloween scene briefly. We will examine the climax of the story. We will work on visual storytelling and creating dramatic tension.
This week we will be working on a flashback scene. We will be exploring the temporal nature of theatre and working on creating scenes with good structure. We will work on a cross cut scene, exploring passing focus. We will begin the trial scene, which we will be presenting as a radio play.
