This week in 7th grade drama we will explore character backstories and turning points. We will create scenes that are not in the book based on what we can infer about the characters. We will also explore theatre conventions when creating a character flashback.

This week we will focus on using pantomimic illusions and exposition to create the setting. We will learn about using symbols and non-realistic theatre styles in a dream sequence.
This week is "Take Your Parents to School" on Wednesday. Unfortunately, I will be at a district meeting on Wednesday and will not be in class, so I will not get the chance to meet you. If you have questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Please check out the after school activities under Special Events. We will continue our work on To Kill A Mockingbird. This week we will be working on different kinds of theatre conventions. We will explore multiple view points in a scene. We will work on exposition and pantomime techniques.
This week we will be working on character interpretation. We will discuss how no two actors will play the character the same way. We will create a backstory for one of the characters. We will explore the idea of subtext and how that helps us to understand the characters personality.
